Colchester Grammar School, Colchester, Essex

Situated to provide an important interface between the public and the school. This resulted in challenging site conditions as the building was set within mature oak trees and important Roman archaeology below ground. Acoustic movable wall along with retractable seating allows the space to be configured as a large hall with retractable tiered seating and a stage or as two smaller rehearsal studios. A smaller seminar / teaching space, acts as a “green room” for formal performances.

Approximate cost £840,000
